Update 22/1 βρέθηκε δότης αίματος , εκκρεμεί να μαζευτεί το ποσό για τα κτηνιατρικα έξοδα.![]()

" Στις 20/1 βρέθηκε στο Σχηματάρι στην στάση για ξεκούραση από την οδήγηση σκυλάκι 1,5 μηνών βαριά τραυματισμένο στα πίσω του πόδια και κυρίως στο ένα που έχει σπάσει σε δύο σημεία και έχει παρουσιάσει φλεγμονή. Το σκυλάκι ουρλιαζε από τον πόνο και τον φόβο. Καταφεραμε να το πιάσουμε παρόλο που προσπαθούσε να μας δαγκώσει από τον φόβο και το μεταφέραμε στην κλινική Γέρακα όπου και έκανε τις εξετάσεις που έπρεπε (αιματολογικές, ακτινογραφίες, υπέρηχο), της χορηγήθηκαν παυσίπονα, αντιβίωση και της τοποθετήθηκε για αρχή νάρθηκας στο ποδαράκι για να μην γίνει χειρότερα. Οι γιατροί κατέληξαν πως η μικρή θα χρειαστεί να υποβληθεί σε ένα δύσκολο ορθοπεδικό χειρουργείο για να μπορεί να περπατήσει ξανά και να μην πονάει αφόρητα. Πριν από αυτό όμως θα πρέπει να γίνει μετάγγιση αίματος καθώς η σκυλιτσα ήταν μέρες χτυπημένη και ο αιματοκρίτης της είναι πολύ χαμηλός. ![]()
Ζητάμε την βοήθεια όποιου ατόμου μπορεί να βοηθήσει είτε με την μετάγγιση είτε με την οικονομική κάλυψη του χειρουργείου.![]()

•Το χειρουργείο μαζί με τις νοσηλείες και τις εξετάσεις φτάνει στα 900 ευρώ περίπου (το ακριβές ποσό θα το ξέρουμε μετά το χειρουργείο ανάλογα με το πόσες μέρες νοσηλείας θα χρειαστεί η μικρή). ![]()

•Για την μετάγγιση χρειάζεται να βρεθεί σκυλάκι πάνω από 25 κιλά που ηλικιακά να μην είναι ούτε πολύ μικρό ούτε ηλικιωμένο. ![]()

Καλημέρα! 🐾💚 Διοργανώνουμε ένα second hand bazaar στην Αθήνα, που θα γίνει (λογικά) μεσα στον Μάρτιο, για την οικονομική ενίσχυση του καταφυγίου και εχουμε ξεκινήσει να μαζεύουμε ρούχα. Αν έχετε ρούχα σε καλή κατάσταση που δεν χρειάζεστε πια μπορείτε να τα δωρίσετε για αυτό τον σκοπό. ![]()

(Υπενθυμίζουμε οτι δεν χρησιμοποιούμε ρούχα που έχουν ζωικά οπως δέρμα, μαλλί, μετάξι, φτερα)![]()

Θα είμαστε για λίγες μέρες Αθήνα και μπορούμε να κάνουμε κάποια δρομολόγια για να μαζέψουμε πράγματα στις 27,28 και 29 Ιανουαρίου. Επίσης αν έχετε άλλα πράγματα που μπορεί να φανούν χρήσιμα στο καταφύγιο όπως σπιτάκια, πισίνες για σκυλιά, πετσέτες, κουβερτουλες, τροφές, ακόμα και χρώματα που μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθούν για να βάψουμε ξύλινες κατασκευές, θα χαρούμε πολυ να μας τα δωρίσετε. ![]()

The past two days brought us non-stop rain, leaving us a bit stuck in the caravan. We used the time to finish some boring tasks on our laptops, such as managing our accounting and organizing upcoming tasks for the shelter. On the bright side, we collected over 1.5 tons of water in two days, bringing the total to 8 tons this winter! Yesterday, we bought an additional 1-ton water tank and filled every available container, including buckets, barrels, dog food bins, dog pools, and even our merchandise boxes. Today, we discovered our well is 3/4 full, adding about 3 more tons!![]()

Water is essential for everything we do, so we must be well-prepared for spring and summer. This water will be used to water the 70+ plants and trees we’ve planted, mix cement, and keep the animals cool during the summer. We are still waiting for the water permit… Unfortunately, our van is facing more issues; hauling 1 ton of water daily hasn't helped. We replaced the tires two months ago and had to do it again recently. The brakes were also changed, and the absorber will need replacement soon!![]()

We’re currently using upcycled materials like stones, pallets, and leftover wood for building and repairs. Garry’s villa is divided into two sections for the dogs’ privacy, with a plastic curtain added for warmth and waterproofing. The mini wood stove has been a lifesaver in the cold. A gas heater warms the yard's tent for the dogs and their houses are filled with hay. ![]()

On Sunday, two workers came to inspect the site where we plan to create a space for rescued pigs. Despite what happened with Oscar, we remain committed to building a space that is both large and strong enough to ensure other pigs can be happy and safe. The enclosure will have a perimeter of approximately 130 meters and a height of 1.5 meters. We wanted to use the rocks from the field, but they aren’t big enough for the task. Additionally, it would take much more time and be more expensive. We’ve decided to build with cement blocks, likely adding a wooden fence on top and a metal fence at the base for security. We are awaiting offers from two shops for materials and a quote for the workers' labor. It’s going to be a big job, but we can’t wait to start!

Today, we had a triple visit to the vet with Sting, Paraskevas, and Snow, and received both good and bad news. ![]()

Snow had Giardia and was on treatment for 10 days after we brought him back from his previous adoption. Today's test result for Giardia came back negative, and in a few days, he will travel to Athens to be adopted by the family who adopted his sister!![]()

Paraskevas had a deep wound that had been under treatment, and it appeared to have healed. However, we noticed that the area was slightly swollen, and the wound reopened two days ago. We had to have it checked again. The vet inserted a tube at the wound and prescribed antibiotics for 10 days. We also need to clean the wound very carefully twice a day.![]()

Sting tested positive for heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis) and will undergo treatment for six months. He doesn't have any symptoms, so that's a good sign! His teeth are in very bad condition, but we cannot proceed with cleaning them for the moment.![]()

Σήμερα, είχαμε τριπλή επίσκεψη στον κτηνίατρο με τον Sting, τον Παρασκευά και τον Snow, και λάβαμε και καλά και κακά νέα.![]()

O Snow είχε Giardia και ήταν σε θεραπεία για 10 ημέρες αφού τον πηραμε πίσω από την προηγούμενη υιοθεσία του. Το αποτέλεσμα της σημερινής εξέτασης για Giardia ήταν αρνητικό, και σε λίγες μέρες θα ταξιδέψει στην Αθήνα για να υιοθετηθεί από την οικογένεια που υιοθέτησε την αδερφή του!![]()

Ο Παρασκευάς είχε μια βαθιά πληγή που ήταν υπό θεραπεία και φαινόταν να έχει επουλωθεί. Ωστόσο, παρατηρήσαμε ότι η περιοχή ήταν ελαφρώς πρησμένη και η πληγή άνοιξε ξανά πριν από δύο μέρες και επρεπε να ελεγχθεί ξανά. Ο κτηνίατρος τοποθέτησε ένα σωληνακι στην πληγή και έγραψε αντιβιοτικά για 10 ημέρες. Πρέπει επίσης να καθαρίζουμε την πληγή πολύ προσεκτικά δύο φορές την ημέρα.![]()

Ο Sting βρέθηκε θετικός στο σκουλήκι της καρδιας (διροφιλαριωση) και θα υποβληθεί σε θεραπεία για έξι μήνες. Δεν έχει καθόλου συμπτώματα, οπότε αυτό είναι καλό σημάδι! Τα δόντια του είναι σε πολύ κακή κατάσταση, αλλά δεν μπορούμε να προχωρήσουμε με τον καθαρισμό τους προς το παρόν.![]()

The opening of the shelter officially began in June 2024—a project we had dreamed of and prepared for several years. In 2024, the shelter started taking shape from scratch. The only structures in place from '23 were a fence for the half of the land and some pallet constructions.![]()

Some of DoggyBagCrew's activities last year included:![]()
-Installing the main gate and 3 exit doors![]()
-Purchasing a container![]()
-Setting up a caravan and beginning to live on-site in June![]()
-Fencing 3 separate areas within the shelter![]()
-Repairing the 80m agricultural road with concrete![]()
-Constructing 2 composting sites![]()
-Placing 6 water tanks![]()
-Welcoming and fostering 9 animals![]()
-Completing 3 adoptions![]()
-Creating shaded areas & animal houses![]()
-Covering various veterinary expenses, treatments, and food for animals inside and outside the shelter![]()
-Organizing 7 solidarity events![]()
-Organizing the 1st art exhibition for animal liberation in Greece![]()
-Planting over 70 new trees and plants after the land was burned![]()
-Installing a solar panel system, along with a construction for a fridge, hot shower, and a laundry machine![]()

Working daily at the shelter, organising the events, caring for the animals, managing social media, was overwhelming for just the two of us, but we’re very happy with what has been accomplished so far.![]()

Moving into the shelter during the summer proved to be far from ideal, as the season was tough, and we were not well prepared. Adding to the difficulty, in August, we experienced the heartbreaking loss of Aria, our beloved companion of 15 years. Despite the pain, we had to continue the shelter for the other animals. ![]()

We hope this place will soon be ready to provide a safe haven for even more animals in need. ![]()

To achieve this, we will certainly need more hands, more support, and more people to be a part of it. We are grateful to everyone who has helped and contributed in any way.![]()

Η έναρξη του καταφυγίου ξεκίνησε επίσημα τον Ιούνιο του 2024- ένα project που σκεφτόμασταν και προετοιμάζαμε για αρκετά χρόνια. Το 2024, το καταφύγιο άρχισε να παίρνει μορφή από το μηδέν. Οι μόνες δομές που υπήρχαν από το 2023 ήταν ένας φράκτης για τη μισή έκταση και κάποιες κατασκευές από παλέτες.![]()

- Επισκευή του 80 μέτρων αγροτικού δρόμου με μπετόν.![]()
- Κατασκευή 2 σημείων κομποστοποίησης.![]()
- Αγορά και τοποθέτηση 6 δεξαμενών νερού![]()
-Φιλοξενία 9 ζώων.![]()
-3 ζωοθεσίες.![]()
-Δημιουργία σημείων σκίασης και κατασκευή ξύλινων σπιτιών για τα ζώα.![]()
-Κάλυψη διάφορων κτηνιατρικών εξόδων, θεραπειών και τροφών για τα ζώα εντός και εκτός του καταφυγίου.![]()
-Διοργάνωση 7 εκδηλώσεων αλληλεγγύης![]()
-Διοργάνωση της πρώτης έκθεσης για την απελευθέρωση των ζώων στον ελλαδικό χώρο.![]()
-Φύτευση πάνω από 70 νέων δέντρων και φυτών.![]()
-Εγκατάσταση συστήματος ηλιακών πάνελ, μαζί με υποδομή για ψυγείο, ντους και πλυντήριο ρούχων.![]()

Οι καθημερινές εργασίες στο καταφύγιο, η διοργάνωση εκδηλώσεων, η φροντίδα των ζώων και η διαχείριση των social media ήταν εξαντλητική για μόλις δύο άτομα, αλλά είμαστε πολύ χαρούμενα για όσα έχουν επιτευχθεί μέχρι στιγμής.![]()

Η μετακόμιση στο καταφύγιο κατά τη διάρκεια του καλοκαιριού αποδείχθηκε κάθε άλλο παρά ιδανική, καθώς η εποχή ήταν δύσκολη και δεν είχαμε προετοιμαστεί επαρκώς. Μέσα στις δυσκολίες, ήρθε και προστέθηκε η απώλεια της Άριας τον Αύγουστο, με την οποία ήμασταν μαζί για 15 χρόνια. Παρά τις δύσκολες στιγμές που βιώσαμε, έπρεπε να συνεχίσουμε το καταφύγιο για τα υπόλοιπα ζώα.![]()

Ελπίζουμε αυτός ο χώρος σύντομα να είναι έτοιμος να προσφέρει ασφαλές καταφύγιο για ακόμη περισσότερα ζώα που έχουν ανάγκη.![]()

Για να το επιτύχουμε αυτό, θα χρειαστούμε σίγουρα περισσότερα χέρια, περισσότερη υποστήριξη και περισσότερους ανθρώπους να γίνουν μέρος αυτής της προσπάθειας. Είμαστε ευγνώμονες σε όλα όσα μας βοήθησαν και συνεισέφεραν με οποιοδήποτε τρόπο.![]()

Μια πραγματικά ευτυχισμένη νέα χρονιά θα σήμαινε το τέλος κάθε καταπίεσης για κάθε είδος. Θα σήμαινε το τέλος της γενοκτονίας στην Παλαιστίνη, την εξάλειψη της εκμετάλλευσης και όλων των μορφών διακρίσεων. Και αυτό μπορεί να επιτευχθεί μόνο μέσω του αγώνα για ολική απελευθέρωση!
